Kratos in Ares Armor

Kratos in Ares Armor is another addition to the Player Select line. I like this figure despite its faults. Let's take a closer look at it.

For all of the points of articulation that it sports, most of it seems meaningless or worthless. For example, he's got ball-joint wrists but they're very loose. Not loose enough to just pop off while holding the Blades of Athena, but once he tries to hold the Blade of Olympus away from the body or ground, they either swivel as gravity pulls the sword and hand back to the ground or they pop off and end up on the ground anyway.

Getting him into the pose with the sword slung over the shoulder was a task and one that pretty much loosens up the arm joint more than I'd like. Thank God it's staying in that pose and he looks badass in it or I'd be a lot more concerned.

The headsculpts are stated as being new, I've got both of the old heads and looked at them for about 20 minutes. They're the same heads, just painted with a bit more drybrushing. This sneering head has a few areas where more white could have been applied. The calm head is pretty much perfect. The paint apps on the rest of the figure are pretty good. Not perfect, but not average, either. The accessories, as usual got the worst of the paint applications. The Blades of Athena are even more annoying this time around. The impressive Blade of Olympus has some slop issues with the gold and silver and I'll probably go ahead and touch those up.

I like this figure way more than I like Altair. The problems with the articulation mean I can't rate it any higher than him. That said, I give it a 4 out of 5
