According to the latest Spawn.com news article, purchasing exclusives from McFarlane Toys is going to be different from now on. It appears that after years of delays (Hanging Spawn), problems (Deion Sanders) and unruly customers upset over missing out on thier favorite exclusive figures (Biker Chick, Flying Monkey, Varitek and Umpire) that the end may finally be in sight. With a vocal group clamoring for a new system, it looks like pre-orders are the way of the future.
While this method of ordering was dismissed in previous years, it's interesting to see it brought out in the thick of the holiday season. However, given the item they've chosen to test this on there should be no doubts that they're confident it's going to work.

As you may know, the demand for many of our products, in particular our Collector's Club Exclusives, is overwhelming. SPAWN.com has created a special online registry to simplify the process and
ensure that the sale of our highly sought-after products goes smoothly.
This new streamlined system is scheduled to debut next Wednesday, Nov. 28, with the first Collector's Club figure of 2008 - a Halo 3 exclusive available only through the SPAWN.com store.
To be eligible to purchase Collector's Club exclusives from the SPAWN store, you must now first create a registered account. By selecting an applicable item for purchase, you will automatically be registered. Each item has a unique shop date, and only pre-registered users will be able to purchase exclusive figures.
Once you have created a registered account, you will be able to check exclusive shopping availability at any time by clicking on the "Check Preorder Status" link on the Preorder page of the SPAWN.com store.
